Spread the love

If you are looking for some of the best Five Nights at Freddy’s fanfiction, you have come to the right place.

For those who are unfamiliar, Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror video game franchise consisting of nine games.

Each of these games takes place in a location that is connected to a family pizza restaurant franchise.

The game largely takes place at night, with the player defending themselves against hostile animatronics in the restaurant.

Though it may not seem like the most likely place to find fanfiction, there is a whole community online that is buzzing with stories based on this world.

Keep reading to learn more.

1. Please Stop, You’re Scaring Me

The first fanfiction on our list is the most popular in the community with over 127,000 hits.

It currently has 22 chapters, and it is being updated on a regular basis.

This story is suitable for audiences of teens and up.

It is not the most gruesome story on our list by a long shot, but it does contain some violence and abuse, as is expected for a story based on Five Nights at Freddy’s.

In this story, we see Freddy as a strong parental figure.

This story certainly diverges from the game, but it does not stray too far.

There are elements that remain very similar in many ways.

The ways in which the characters interact with each other may be different, but it all comes together for an exciting and suspenseful story.

2. On the Ropes

In this next story, we get a better look at many of the other characters besides Freddy.

Montgomery Gator and Moondrop both play a big role in this story, as well as many others.

It is another popular story with nearly 100,000 hits and just as many words.

There are currently 15 chapters in this story, and it is being updated fairly consistently.

The comments on this story from various readers are really positive.

The story is compelling and interesting, yet it stays quite true to the game.

The characters have their own voices, but they are also what you might expect.

It is a lot of fun to see so much more detail and depth with each of these characters than we see in the game.

As the reader of this story, you are thrust into a world with suspense and terror around every corner.

3. Encore!

This next Five Nights at Freddy’s fanfiction has over 82,000 hits, and that number is growing!

This story is complete, so it is a great one to choose if you don’t want to get invested in a story that you will have to wait for each new chapter.

Though this story is intended for teen audiences, it does have some adult scenes that can be a little gruesome.

The author has several original characters in this series, but don’t worry, the original characters from the game are still there, alive and well, at least for now.

There are a lot of twists and turns that the reader takes in this story.

Nothing is ever as it seems, and you definitely shouldn’t trust anyone.

This story is written from a third-person perspective, so while it does not have the same feeling as playing the game, it still remains quite true to many of the things we know and love from the game.

It is a well-written and detailed story that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

4. A New Star is Born

In this Five Nights at Freddy’s fanfiction, we enter an alternate universe that is just as frightening as the world in the game.

While much of the story remains true to the game, the author has also taken the premise and the characters and made them completely their own.

In this world, a poor soul gets stuck inside one of the animatronics.

While this plot point in and of itself is not all that unique, it is what the author does with the story after the fact that makes it so unique.

There are elements of horror to this story, of course, but there is also a major element of mystery.

The reader uncovers clues and hints to solve the mystery, and each chapter will leave you on the edge of your seat.

5. Protocol

This story is perhaps the most comical on our list.

The author does a good job of incorporating humor into an otherwise scary story.

With over 75,000 hits, this story is popular, and for very good reason.

It is also regularly updated by the author with new chapters and plot lines.

This story focuses heavily on the ethical aspects of animatronics.

If that sounds like a boring or uninteresting plot, don’t worry; it is not at all what it seems.

There is a lot of intrigue and head-scratching moments to enjoy.

The author also gives a bit of background information to start the story, so the reader can better understand what is about to happen.

It is a unique story that remains true to the source material while also offering new and exciting stories.

6. Burning, Falling, Shooting Super Star

This story diverges quite a lot from the video game, but it is still a great read.

There is less murder and gore in this story than in many of the others, and there is no romance at all.

In the author’s own words, this story is a lot of “fluff,” but it is still a compelling and fun read.

This story depicts Gregory living his life among the animatronics.

He has left his foster family and his new family takes care of him while he is sick.

It is a sweet story that emphasizes the importance of a found family.

Not only do they take care of him while he is sick, but they also help him work out some of his past trauma and hardships.

If you are looking for a story that is vastly out of character, but still a great story, this is the one for you.

It may not be true to the game, but it might warm your heart.

It is nice to see some of these characters in non-life-threatening situations.

7. To Fix What’s Broken

With nearly 60,000 hits, this story is one of the best.

It has many elements that are true to the game, but the author also gives it their own personal twist.

We see just about every character from the game in this story.

They each have their own sweet moments, as well as moments of horror.

In typical Five Nights at Freddy’s fashion, there is a good amount of gore and violence in this story, but nothing that seems out of context.

In this story, Gregory goes on a hunt for Bonnie after he mysteriously disappears one night.

The mystery element of this story is really exciting, and it makes for a unique story.

There are some disturbing discoveries as well as some new information that is laid out, and it makes for a very compelling read.

8. Moon is One Hundred Percent Done

As the title suggests, Moon is the main focus of this story.

This provides a new and interesting perspective that we haven’t seen in many of the other stories.

Of course, just about every other character makes an appearance, and that only adds to the excitement of the story.

We see Sunny and Moon dealing with children and parents, and just trying to keep their heads above water.

It is another story that has less violence and gore than many of the others, and it deals mostly with non-canon story elements.

The tension and conflict in this story come largely from the children in the daycare and between Sunny and Moon.

For a good light-hearted read, this story is an excellent choice.

9. Guiding Lights

This fanfic takes place directly after the fire.

Michael Afton is dead and we are left to deal with the ramifications of his death.

There is a large amount of time travel in this story, which can be confusing and often not worth the effort.

However, the author of this story does a great job of incorporating time travel in a way that makes sense to the reader.

The author also remains quite true to the characters and their voices.

Though this story diverges from the game, it does not feel like an alternate universe.

In fact, it just feels like a great continuation of this world.

10. Little, Broken, but Still Good

In our final Five Nights at Freddy’s fanfiction, we see a lot of adult themes, though it is rated for teen audiences.

Topics such as suicide, child abuse, and manipulation play a large role in this story, so read at your own risk.

With over 53,000 hits, however, it is certainly a popular story with a lot of elements to offer other than the topics mentioned above.

This story takes place in an alternate universe in which the animatronics do not become possessed.

There is still a whole lot of fear and horror to be found in other places, though.

If you are looking for terror, you will certainly be able to find it here.
