About FictionLit

Every story has a beginning

Founded in 2021, FictionLit began with fan fiction, bringing together writers and readers who shared a love of storytelling and the worlds that words could create.

As our community grew, so did our curiosity. Our writers began looking beyond imagined worlds to the stories in ordinary life, forgotten traditions and the memories that connect generations.

Today, FictionLit explores nostalgia, history, family and everyday life. From the meals our grandparents prepared to the traditions we grew up with, we revisit familiar moments, uncover their origins and explore how the past continues to shape our present.

We believe that even the simplest things have stories worth telling.

Stories that connect generations

History isn’t always found in textbooks. Sometimes, it’s tucked away in an old family recipe, a childhood tradition or the familiar comforts of a home we once knew.

Our writers combine storytelling with research and historical context to explore these connections. Memories differ between families, cultures and generations, and we aim to make those differences clear.

Whether we’re revisiting yesterday or exploring how life continues to change, our goal is to inform readers, inspire curiosity and keep meaningful stories alive.

Our writers & editorial standards

Behind every FictionLit article is a writer with a curiosity for the world and an interest in sharing stories. Our articles carry author bylines, and each writer’s profile brings together their published work and available public profiles.

We value thoughtful research, historical accuracy and clear distinctions between documented facts, personal memories and interpretation. Our Editorial Policy explains how we approach research, sourcing, imagery and corrections.
