Spread the love

If you are looking for some of the best Gravity Falls fanfiction, you are in the right place.

Gravity Falls is an animated mystery series with 40 episodes over two seasons.

This show follows twins Dipper and Mabel, sent to spend the summer in Gravity Falls, Oregon, with their great-uncle Stan.

Stan runs a tourist trap called the Mystery Shack, and Dipper finds a notebook in the forest that helps him uncover some of the great mysteries of the town of Gravity Falls.

Due to this show’s mysterious and open-ended nature, it has become an excellent source for fanfiction.

Gravity Falls fanfiction often crosses over with other worlds, commonly other animated TV series.

This article will look at some of the most popular Gravity Falls fanfiction stories.

1. Anyway, I’ve Been There

This story takes place after the finale of season 2 of the show.

Dipper and Mabel return to Gravity Falls, but they are not the same kids who left it last summer.

They have grown up and changed, but the town has remained the same.

There is a bit of romance in this story and some great bonding moments between Mabel and Dipper.

Of course, this incredible story has plenty of mystery — sticking to the show’s theme.

2. Flat Dreams

Next up is a Gravity Falls fanfiction that crosses over with Flatland.

If you are unfamiliar, Flatland is an 1884 novella by Edwin A. Abbott that discusses life in a two-dimensional world.

It is an interesting novella that makes for a very unique crossover story.

This story opens with a man named Bill discovering a memoir of a man who is long gone, a man from another dimension.

That man just so happens to be Uncle Stan, and we get to see his entire backstory and how he came to be in Gravity Falls.

This story is fascinating.

The author is clearly intelligent and has made some very interesting observations about life as we know it.

3. We Coded the Oregon Trail with a Hole Puncher, and There’s Nothing You Can Do about it

This Gravity Falls fanfiction is another crossover story, this time with the world of Marvel, as well as the world of Steven Universe.

All three of these worlds come together for an exciting and action-packed story that you won’t want to miss out on.

This story takes place after the events of the season 2 finale of Gravity Falls.

Dipper and Mabel just want to have a normal summer, and it does not seem they will get it.

Between the magic, the superheroes, and the ghosts, nothing in Gravity Falls is ever “normal,”, especially in this story.

4. Five Minutes Older

In this Gravity Falls fanfiction, time travel plays a major role in the unfolding events.

Mabel has somehow transported herself back to 1979.

She is alone and without her brother and cannot fix her time machine by herself.

Luckily, she runs into Stan, who is unaware that Mabel is his great-niece, but he takes her in anyway.

Stan does not know this girl, but he is not about to let her end up on the streets.

This story shows a very different side to Stan, which is really fun to see.

He is still gruff and rough around the edges, but he has a good heart and good intentions.

5. Fisherman’s Knot

Next up is a Gravity Falls fanfiction that is a bit darker than others.

This story deals with some mature themes, such as depression, anxiety, and suicide, so this may be a story that some readers want to steer clear of.

Winter is coming to Gravity Falls, and it is much more difficult than Stan and Ford were anticipating.

Through the cold winter, Stan and Ford realize they have some mental health struggles, and they are not sure how to deal with them.

Fortunately, they have some supportive friends and family who can help them through it and get them the care they need.

Stan and Ford are this story’s main focus, though many other characters also make appearances.

6. The Whole of Us (is Greater Than the Sum of Our Pieces)

This Gravity Falls fanfiction takes place in an alternate universe, though it may not seem very different at all on the surface.

In this story, Stan raises Mabel and Dipper from the time they are children.

Before taking them in, he never planned on having children; he wanted to be the man who changed the world.

Now that he has been placed into a fatherhood role, his plans must change, and his life changes, too.

We learn a lot about Stan’s upbringing in this story, which has to do with abuse, neglect,  and manipulation.

It is not a happy upbringing.

Through it all, Stan raises Mabel and Dipper to be good people, at least most of the time.

7. 1 Step Forward, 20 Years Back

Next up is a Gravity Falls fanfiction containing graphic violence, so proceed at your own risk.

Stan does not fight with Ford over the journal in this alternate universe.

Instead, he tries to leave, but Ford will not let him go that easily.

As they argue, Stan comes into contact with a magical substance that knocks him out cold.

He is a bit smaller when he wakes up than he used to be.

Now Ford must worry about keeping Bill from taking over the world and turning his brother back to normal.

This story is full of magic and mystery, and you will not see some twists coming your way.

8. BillDip Drabbles and Oneshots

As you may have guessed from the title of this story, this Gravity Falls fanfiction is a collection of short stories that do not necessarily all work together.

This collection features the relationship of Bill and Dipper in many different forms.

In some of these stories, Bill and Dipper are just friends — in others, they are enemies.

Each chapter of this collection is different and interesting in different ways.

9. What Makes a Monster and What Makes a Man

Next up is another Gravity Falls fanfiction that crosses over with Steven Universe.

This story contains a great balance of fluff as well as angst, so be prepared for a bit of an emotional roller coaster.

In this story, Steven ends up in Gravity Falls, and he is quickly wrapped up in all of the hijinks and mysteries that this town is home to.

Meanwhile, Dipper hopes to uncover more simple mysteries, and Mabel just wants to relax and enjoy her summer.

Of course, none of this happens, and the three characters end up in more sticky situations than they expected.

At the same time, Stan is searching for a child in need.

He is desperate to find someone to help, just like how he needed someone to help him as a child.

This story references PTSD, anxiety, and other mental health problems, but they are handled respectfully and cautiously.

10. Little Dipper

The final Gravity Falls fanfiction that we will look at today once again takes place in an alternate universe.

In this story, Mabel and Dipper are not twins.

In this story, Mabel is 12 years old, and Dipper is five years old, and this simple age difference completely changes their relationship dynamic.

Mabel takes her little brother to Gravity Falls with her for the summer, expecting they will have a relaxing and laid-back summer, but she soon finds that she is mistaken.

At various points in this story, Bill is a babysitter to young Dipper.

And he’s not experienced with children.

Will he survive?

Find out in this hilarious tale!
