1. The Wind and the Lion

This story follows Anduin, King of the Alliance, during the war.

The Horde possesses the potential to create super weapons, and Anduin is forced to make some drastic decisions because of this.

He knows he has to ally with Sylvanas Windrunner.

But they both soon discover more at stake than just a war.

It’s also about their feelings for each other and the consequences for their people.

2. Elune’s Pebble

This story is a crossover between Harry Potter and Warcraft, with the main focus on the characters from HP.

The writer also stated that you don’t need to know anything about Warcraft to be able to understand the story.

The story follows Harry in his 5th year in Azeroth.

Cataclysm has just happened, and Harry feels he couldn’t help everyone how he wanted.

The characters in this story are mostly from Harry Potter and the ones the writer made up.

However, the world-building and many of the magic systems are from Warcraft.

This makes it a very nice combination of both fandoms, and is amazing to read.

3. The Wrath of Sabellian

In this story, we follow Wrathion, who claims to be the last Black Dragon.

But then he meets Sabellian, the eldest son of Deathwing, who is abandoned in the Blade’s Edge Mountains.

Because they didn’t know each other’s existence before, they ended up in a violent struggle, both wanting to be the top dragon and fighting for acknowledgment.

Wrathion seeks help from Anduin, with even more risks at play.

Will their union lead to victory or defeat?

Find out in this thrilling tale.

4. When Two Worlds Collide

This story follows Sylvanas, Warchief of the Horde, and Anduin, Leader of the Alliance.

It takes place around the Battle of Azeroth expansion for World of Warcraft.

Sylvanas and Anduin face each other and fight for their people and themselves.

Will they put aside all differences and come to a solution?

Or maybe they find out there is more to the other person than they know.

5. Deku the Warcrafted

This story is a crossover between Warcraft and My Hero Academia.

(If you want to read about My Hero Academia fanfiction, check out this post!)

Izuku has always wanted to be a Hero, but he discovered he is Quirkless.

Defeated by this revelation, he walks home only to see a Little Shop that wasn’t there before.

Fascinated by this little store, he goes in, but what he finds is completely different from his expectations.

And somehow, after talking to the woman in the store, he finds himself in Azeroth.

This story is equally fun for both Warcraft fans and My Hero Academia fans.

Everyone is in for a treat because there is a great combination of both fandoms.

6. Before the Dawn

This story is based completely on the World of Warcraft game.

The fourth war has ended, but Sylvanas can’t take it slow.

Somehow, she is pulled back in time, and confronted with her choices.

We see all the big characters from the World of Warcraft game and some new original ones created by the writer.

The story discusses difficult subjects like angst, sexual assault, and trauma.

However, the writer did try to make sure these subjects do not trigger anyone but are a good addition to the story.

If you are looking for a great story about WoW but not too long, this is the one for you.

7. A Dim Light in the Maelstrom

In this story, it is two thousand years after the fourth war.

We follow Maiev Shadowsong, who still has problems with how the world has evolved.

She is still clinging to the past, even though she knows it is time to let go.

Illidan Stormrage has been gone for all these years but suddenly returns to this world he does not recognize.

Both have problems with this world but even more problems with each other.

Yet they depend on each other and must find a way to start over together.

8. Bitter Enemies

Amid the Battle of Lordaeron, Anduin and Sylvanas face each other.

Then, all of a sudden, they find themselves in a strange world.

They don’t know where they are or if they can return and only have each other to find a way back.

So, they must find a way to work out their differences and become allies instead of enemies.

9. Diary of a Mad Gamer Chick

From start to end, this story is a diary.

A girl from our world is addicted to World of Warcraft and somehow is sucked into the game.

She has to deal with her new body and abilities and Garrosh Hellscream.

This type of writing style leaves some elements out of the story.

That said, it is still a fun story — if you are willing to stick with it to the end, you are amazing!

10. To the Ends of the Earth

The story starts at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King.

Arthas is dead, but he isn’t going to the afterlife.

Instead, he is now 19 years old again, but with all the memories from his previous life.

He knows that he now has the chance to change his past and future.

So he leaves home and tries to stop the horrors of the Plague before they ever happen.

This story is a very unique twist on the Lich King story.

And if you enjoyed playing this expansion and reading the lore, this story is absolutely for you.
