It starts as a classic enemies-to-lovers story. Persephone wants to show the world how terrible Hades is all because of the deals he makes with mortals.

Hades and Persephone
Hades and Persephone don’t start out as lovers. But when they eventually come together, the whole relationship is very passionate. It is foretold by the prophecy that Hades and Persephone are meant to be together. But this relationship also has its price.
A Touch of Darkness Characters
Hades is the God of the Underworld. He takes care of the people who died.
Hades is one of the 3 Olympian Gods together with his brothers Zeus and Poseidon.
In the upper world, as the world of the living is called, Hades owns a nightclub. Here people come to bargain with him for their own lives or the lives of loved ones.
Hades and Persephone first meet In this nightclub.
Persephone is the Goddess of spring. She is the daughter of Demeter but does not know who her father is.
Her mother kept her locked away for 18 years, all because an oracle told Demeter that Persephone and Hades are meant to be.
When Persephone persuades her mother to let her study in the mortal world, she makes a promise to not reveal who she really is. So she lives in the mortal world, pretending to be mortal as well.
Persephone goes to the nightclub owned by Hades to try and find out what Hades does. She wants to write an article about Hades and the unfair deals he makes. But she ends up making a deal with him herself.
Lexa is a human girl and the best friend of Persephone. She and Persephone live together in a small flat.
When Persephone starts her relationship with Hades, Lexa is one of the first to know. Even though Lexa does not know Persephone is a Goddess, she supports her relationship with Hades. Towards the end of the book Lexa also finds out Persephone is a Goddess.
Minthe is Hades’ assistant. She is mostly around in the nightclub owned by Hades.
Persephone feels a bit of jealousy towards Minthe. And she is afraid that there might be more going on between Minthe and Hades than just a boss and employee relationship.
As it turns out, Persephone was partially right. Hades and Minthe had a short sexual relationship in the past. Hades does not have any feelings for Minthe. But Minthe wants Hades for herself. And to get him, she tries to get rid of Persephone.
Then Minthe tries to destroy Persephone, with help from Adonis. But Persephone knows what Minthe is up to and turns her into a mint plant.
Adonis is one of Persephone’s colleagues. She first met him while going out with some friends.
