Spread the love

If you are looking for some great NCIS fanfiction, then look no further.

NCIS is a currently running TV show that first aired in 2003.

NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service and tells the story of the work and lives of these investigators.

So if you like crime shows, then NCIS might be just the thing for you.

Along with the TV show, there is a whole world of NCIS fanfiction out there.

But in this post, I will be writing about some of the most popular NCIS fanfiction according to hits received on Archive Of Our Own.

Keep reading to find out more about some of these popular stories.

1. Moving Forward

Spencer Reid Criminal Minds art

This story is a crossover between NCIS and Criminal Minds.

The main focus is on the NCIS set, and some of the Criminal Minds characters show up.

Tony has been struggling with a lot of things since Kate’s death.

And he isn’t sure if he can still do this job when JJ shows up.

the story contains 32 chapters in total.

It already has over 91,000 hits making it one of the most popular fanfics of NCIS out there.

2. Tony’s Little Black Book: Turn of the Women

This story is a combination of a lot of fandoms.

It tells the story from Tony’s little black book with all the interesting women he dated in his life.

These are all women from various fandoms like Avengers, Buffy the vampire slayer, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and many more.

Every chapter tells a story about a new woman and the things Tony did with these women.

Most of the chapters are rewritten versions of episodes from NCIS.

So basically, these are a lot of short stories with a very original take on the characters and storylines.

There are 26 active chapters so far.

The writer is planning on 51 chapters, but when they will be available isn’t clear.

3. A Castle of Cards

This story is a crossover between NCIS and Stargate.

The first chapter starts right after season 6, episode 2 when Tony takes Ziva and Mcgee’s side.

However, his punishment in this story is being sent to the cold case devision.

Here he comes across some strange cold cases that intrigue him immediately.

He is sucked into a whole mess with alternate worlds and has no idea what to do with it.

The story constantly switches between present time and past time.

This makes it a little hard to follow sometimes.

But it is still a very original take on two very different shows.

4. There’s Always Tom Morrow (Season One)

This isn’t really a crossover, but as the writer said, some characters from other shows make a guest appearance.

It follows a few episodes from the first season of NCIS.

Only here, Tom Morrow actually does his job as he is supposed to.

Instead of ignoring protocol, he actually makes sure his team faces the consequences of their actions.

This story is part 1 in the “Director Morrow” series.

There are 28 chapters in total.

The author follows the season perfectly and ensures the timelines still fit the original series.

5. Valedictory

This story follows the events from season 8, episode 5.

As a drastic decision, Tony hands in his resignation and leaves a few letters to his team.

Gibbs takes over the team, but things don’t really go according to plan.

And even though Tony doesn’t want to be a part of NCIS anymore, he is still sucked right back in.

But now he has even more choices, and whatever he picks will have great consequences for his (former) teammates.

The story is 12 chapters long, and it is a bit of a slow burn.

It takes a few chapters before the real action comes, but when it comes, it is really well written.

6. Morgue Files

This isn’t really a story but more of a compilation of multiple stories.

Every chapter follows a different fandom and the ideas the writer had for this fandom.

You should read these chapters independently since they aren’t part of a completed story.

But chapters 5 and 11 are about NCIS.

In chapter 5, we follow Gibbs and learn about his desires for Tony.

And in chapter 11, we see Tony trying to figure out how and if a relationship with a teammate will work out.

Even though this is a very strange collection of stories, it is still very fun to read.

7. Illusions Lost

This is another crossover between Criminal minds and NCIS.

Gibbs has left for Mexico, and somehow Tony just knows and feels that Gibbs is in trouble.

When Abby isn’t emotionally available to help him, Tony turns to Penelope Garcia for help.

But by bringing in Garcia, he ultimately brings in her entire team of the BAU.

With Garcia being one of the main characters, the writers bring a lot of funny and sarcastic scenes to this story.

The interaction between her and Tony is very fun to read, especially once Derek joins the party as well.

The story is 17 chapters long and has over 57,000 hits already.

8. Perfect Storm

This story is a crossover between NCIS and the Sentinel and follows after season 6 of NCIS.

Tony does not realize he is a broken Guide until a fight between life and death unleashes his gift.

This also creates a unique bond with Gibbs; Tony does not know how to handle this.

Tony has to figure out what place this gift has in his life and if he wants to share this with Gibbs.

This story really is about friendship but also team building.

It is one chapter long, but it is a very long chapter with over 49,000 words.

As part 1 in the “Perfect Storm” series, it is just the beginning, and I recommend reading the next part in the series.

9. A Fine and Private Place

This is yet another crossover between Criminal minds and NCIS.

Tony has been friends with Aaron Hotchner for a long time now.

And when Gibbs returns to work without acknowledging what has happened, Tony needs all the help he can get.

So he turns to Hotch for advice, but he has his own team problems.

They join forces and confront the people they care about with the issues at hand.

The story follows events from early on in both shows making the timelines fit almost perfectly with the original shows.

10. Highly Classified and Very Hush Hush

This fanfic is a crossover between NCIS and Stargate Atlantis.

Gibbs and his team have arrested a group of marines that were running around naked.

When their commander shows up, things get even more interesting.

Because apparently, they are part of a secret investigation in Antarctica.

The story is only 1 chapter long with 1704 words.

So even though it isn’t a very long story, it is a fun change from the standard fanfics.
