“From Blood and Ash. We shall rise.”

“With my sword and with my life, I vow to keep you safe, Penellaphe. From this moment until the last moment, I am yours.”

He says that he will make Poppy’s pain go away. Hawke then bites into his wrist, tearing the skin open. He tells Poppy to drink.

Kieran tries to question him and calls him Casteel. However, Hawke doesn’t listen.

Poppy protests because she thinks that she’ll turn into a monster. Hawke persuades Poppy to drink his blood.

Poppy does so and feels better. Hawke explains to her that it’s because the blood of an Atlantian has healing properties.

He admits to using his ability to compel her to drink his blood but says that he hasn’t used it on her before.

He again says that the Ascended made the Craven.

Poppy starts to feel odd. She tries to get Hawke to kiss her but he refuses. He says she’ll hate him later for it.

Hawke assures her that those who tried to kill Poppy will pay. He says that he’ll kill them for it.

They start back to the house. Casteel says that he doesn’t blame Poppy for trying to kill him. He gives her his shirt.

They both admit to still being angry at each other. He picks her up and carries her inside. On the way, he says that he’ll take her home to Atlantia.

Chapter 40

Casteel brought Poppy back to the room where she stabbed him.

Kieran stood by the door keeping watch. He explains that Atlantia is beyond the Skotos mountains.

Poppy proceeds to take a long bath. Kieran rushes in after a while since she didn’t answer his calls.

And she is horrified since she is naked in the tub. She tells him to get out.

They go to eat and Poppy’s mind lingers in the hallway. Casteel asks her about it and she says that she was shocked.

Casteel says that they will be leaving in the morning. But Poppy says that Atlantia isn’t her home.
