If you’re interested in learning more about famous fantasy queens from literature and other media, you’ve come to the right post!

Elsa from Frozen

Elsa is one of the most well-known fantasy queens. Not only is she the queen of the kingdom of Arendelle, she also has astounding ice powers that will make any mortal jealous. Elsa was born with her powers, but as an adult she learns that her powers were a gift from ancient spirits. She finds that she is the reincarnation of one of these spirits, making her a bridge between the spirit and mortal worlds.

As a fantasy queen, Elsa uses her powers to shoot ice, to make it snow, to build palaces, and to make snowmen, among many other things. She is more powerful than she realizes, and she is determined to control her powers. Elsa never uses her powers for evil. She never wants to harm another person. She has a deep connection to her past and to nature. Because of these connections, Elsa is able to correct the wrongdoings of her ancestors and make the world right again. She takes great care of those she loves.

The art above depicts Elsa in a beautiful manner. It shows her icy powers as well as the warmth she holds for the people she cares about. Her stance is strong and it is clear that she is incredibly powerful, but capable.

Arwen from Lord of the Rings

If you are familiar with Lord of the Rings, then you are certainly familiar with Arwen. A flawless and beautiful elf, she is the epitome of a fantasy queen. Arwen is Queen of the Reunited Kingdom of Arnor and Gondor. She lived to be nearly 3,000 years old, but died of a broken heart after losing the love of her life.

Arwen lives the majority of her life in Rivendell, a sheltered and quiet community. It is hidden deep in Middle Earth and is home to the elven. Arwen is known for being kind, gentle, and beautiful. She is responsible for uniting elves and men in peace. In doing so, she lost her immortality and became a mortal. Not only is she peaceful and kind, but she is also brave and loyal. She deeply cares about those around her and constantly seeks peace.

The art of Arwen that we see above is striking and beautiful, just as she is. It is clear that she is a creature of peace and equality.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid

Ariel is another of our fantasy queens that you are sure to be familiar with. Much like the queens above, Ariel is kind and loving to those around her. She is the daughter of King Triton, who is the ruler of all of the merpeople. The youngest of seven daughters, Ariel is often overlooked and able to sneak away on her own adventures. Ariel has friends from across the ocean and the land including fish, crabs, and seagulls, indicating her openness and her acceptance of everyone.

Ariel does not have magical powers or the ability to live forever, but she does have a powerful and striking singing voice. Her voice is a wonder and a marvel to everyone in the sea, and she uses that power to trade her mermaid tail for human legs in order to unite with her true love. She is a determined and passionate young woman, and this is indicated in everything she does. Ariel’s beautiful voice is complimented by her gorgeous appearance and her kind heart. She takes good care of the ones she loves and always does what she thinks is right.

As is clear in the art above, Ariel is strong, independent, and powerful. Though she may be young and inexperienced in many ways, she is still the wife of a prince and the daughter of a king.

Mera from Aquaman

In terms of powerful and strong fantasy queens, it doesn’t get any better than Mera, Queen of Atlantis. She is also known as Aquawoman, as she is married to Aquaman. Mera appears in the Aquaman comics and is part of the Justice League, created by DC Comics. Though she may not be the first person you think of when you think of fantasy queens, she definitely fits the bill. Mera is a highly-skilled assassin, having had continuous training since childhood. She has many skills that are helpful as an assassin, such as hand-to-hand combat, and superhuman speed and reflexes. A native of Xebel, Mera can see for great distances underwater and she has incredible strength.

Mera’s most notable skill is her power to manipulate water. This skill comes in handy quite often and it always gives her an advantage over her opponents. Along with her skills in combat situations, Mera also has a soft spot for the people she loves. Though she is powerful and strong, she strives for peace between Atlantis and the surface world. She is a protector of both the land and the sea.

In the art above, we see Mera posed regally as the fantasy queen she is. What we don’t see is her lethal skills and abilities hidden beneath a beautiful exterior.

Susan Pevensie from The Chronicles of Narnia Series

To round out our list of fantasy queens, we have Queen Susan the Gentle. Even if you know nothing about her, her title makes it clear who she is and what is important to her. Susan Pevensie is the oldest daughter of the Pevensie family and the last of her siblings to truly believe in the magic of Narnia. Susan is logical, smart, and gentle, as well as gorgeous. She is known for being just as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.

Though Susan did not initially believe in Narnia, nor did she hold on to her belief as long as her other siblings, she made a huge impact while she was there. While she was the reigning queen, Susan was known for her kindness and gentle nature. The time period in which she was queen was one of peace and prosperity. Her good nature was known all throughout Narnia, and she had many suitors who sought her out.

The art of Susan above indicates her kind eyes and gentle spirit. Though she is powerful and strikingly beautiful, she is also strong and brave.
