And you can see it as a sort of redemption story for Scar.

In this story, we see what happens when Scar becomes king.
He can’t seem to control his chaotic mind and doesn’t know who he can trust anymore.
Scar tries to win Nala over and make her his mate, but she doesn’t want anything to do with him.
Simba doesn’t have a large part in this story, he actually only shows up in mentions.
Nala is a really strong female character and Scar isn’t all the same as he is in the movie.

3. All the Lonely Moments
This story tells the side of Nala from the moment at the elephant graveyard.
She insists to her mother and the rest of the pack that Simba isn’t guilty.
And she says that Scar is a threat to everyone on the Pridelands.
So basically this is the story we know, but with gaps filled in where the movie didn’t give us all the answers.
The story is only 1 chapter long with 3604 words.
But it sums up everything nicely.
4. The Lion King: The Secret Prince
This story takes place after the Lion King part 2.
The War with the Outlanders is won and the Pride Lands are once again prospering.
But there is a big secret that is about to be revealed.
This secret involves a long-lost prince coming back to claim his throne.
Will Kiara, Kovu, and the rest of the pack be able to deal with these new revelations?
The story is 16 chapters long and has a very easy writing style.
We meet all the characters from the movies, and it is fun seeing them interact like this.
5. Simba’s Finest Fling
In this story, Scar tries to be the cool uncle while babysitting Simba.
Mufasa at first didn’t want to leave his precious son with Scar because Mufasa wasn’t sure he could really trust Scar with such a young cub.
But eventually, he lets his worries slide and this results in Simba having fun with Scar.
This is a sweet and light story about an uncle and a nephew having fun together.
It is only 1 chapter long, but it is a fairly long chapter.
6. Starless
The story takes off from the moment Scar falls down after his fight with Simba.
But instead of falling to his death, he lands below where he sees the hyenas come toward him.
Even though the hyenas aren’t happy with Scar and they want to kill him, they don’t.
Scar seems to have been given a second chance, a chance to prove his worth not only to the other animals but to Simba too.
The story contains 26 chapters and most of the chapters aren’t too long.
This makes it a very easy-to-read fanfic.
7. The King Returns
This short, one chapter story is told from the perspective of Sarabi.
We see what happens in the movie from the moment Simba returns till he takes that first roar as king.
But we see everything from the point of view of his mother.
And we experience her feelings while watching her son return and become king.
This story is a really sweet story about a mother’s love even though she thought she had lost Simba and had to endure those feelings.
8. A Forbidden Love
This story takes place after Lion King 2.
Kiara and Kovu are all grown up now and have to deal with their position within the pack.
But when Kiara realizes she has feelings for Kion, everything changes.
She has to make some big decisions and not everyone is going to be happy with what she chooses.
This story really is for fans of the second movie because the first movie doesn’t really play any part in it.
It is a short story with 3 chapters about love and family.
9. Mother’s Eyes
This story follows an all-grown-up Kiara.
She has just given birth to her first cub and is finding motherhood a lot harder than she anticipated.
Of course, she is afraid she might do everything wrong.
But with the help of her mother Nala, she finds her own strength.
This fanfic only has 931 words.
And although the writer claimed it might become a sort of a prequel, they haven’t written anything further as of the date of this blog post.
That said, even though it is a short story, it is a lovely one about motherhood.
10. Two Brothers
This story is a crossover between the Lion King and Disney’s Tarzan.
When Simba flees after the death of Mufasa he isn’t found by Timon and Pumbaa.
Instead, he finds himself deep in the jungle.
And it is there that he is found by the gorilla Kala who raises Simba along with Tarzan.
This of course makes for some fun and interesting contexts.
It’s also a very interesting perspective on the parents that raise you instead of the ones that share your DNA and how this bond can form a family for life regardless of shared DNA.
This is a fanfic with 9 chapters full of fun shenanigans and lovely interactions.
